FAQ
Questions mothers often ask
Honest answers about placenta encapsulation, safety, and what to expect when working with Roots & Remedies.
What is placenta encapsulation?
Placenta encapsulation is the process of preparing your placenta after birth by steaming or dehydrating it, then placing it into capsules for you to take as a supplement during the postpartum period.
Is placenta encapsulation safe?
When performed by a trained specialist following strict sanitation and food-handling protocols, placenta encapsulation is generally considered safe for healthy mothers. I prepare each placenta in a dedicated, clean workspace and follow best practices throughout the process. Always consult your healthcare provider if you have specific health concerns.
What is the difference between the Traditional Chinese Method and Raw method?
The Traditional Chinese Method (TCM) involves gently steaming the placenta with warming herbs before dehydration. The Raw method skips steaming and dehydrates at a lower temperature. Both methods produce capsules; some mothers choose based on personal preference, dietary needs, or guidance from their provider.
When should I book your services?
It's best to reserve your due date during your second or third trimester. This gives us time to discuss your preferences and ensures I can plan for pickup shortly after your baby arrives.
How do I get my placenta to you?
Once your baby is born, keep the placenta refrigerated or on ice according to your birth location's guidance. I will pick it up directly from your home, hospital, or birth center at a time that works for your family.
How long does the process take?
Most encapsulations are completed and delivered within 48 to 72 hours of pickup.
Can I still encapsulate if I have a cesarean birth or medication during labor?
In many cases, yes. Most routine labor medications and cesarean births do not prevent encapsulation. However, if an infection is suspected or certain medications are used, encapsulation may not be advisable. We will review your birth plan and any concerns before delivery.
What areas do you serve?
I primarily serve families in Frisco, Texas and surrounding North Texas communities including McKinney, Plano, Prosper, Little Elm, and Allen. Travel fees may apply for locations outside my standard service area. Soon, I will be accepting orders nationwide.
